Update: EFCC frees 13 out of 94 'Yahoo Yahoo' suspects arrested at Osogbo nightclub

The Economic and Financial Crime Commission in Ibadan, Oyo State, have freed 13 out of 94 suspected cyber fraudsters.   The 94 suspects were arrested on Sunday night after the agency raided three Night Clubs in Osogbo and Iwo towns, in Osun State. Recovered items included 19 exotic cars and over 100 phones.   13 persons were, however, exonerated and released after preliminary investigations found them to be innocent. The Deputy Chief Detective Superintendent of the EFCC in the state Bright Igeleke, said the latest arrests are an indication of the resolve of the commission to rid the country of economic and financial crimes.   He further stated that so far, at least 152 convictions have been made on internet fraud and related offenses

Government can't provide adequate healthcare for Nigerians - Osinbajo

 Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Monday October 14, stated that government can't provide adequate healthcare for all Nigerians.  The Vice President who was represented at the national health dialogue organised by Premium Times in Abuja by his Chief Physician Nicolas Audiferren, said the best option for the nation will be an effective national health insurance scheme.  “It has become obvious that the government, both at the state and federal levels, cannot adequately provide health care services. Ladys burns buttocks of her maids with hot pressing iron (photos)

A Nigerian woman identified as Alhaja Baliqees Yahyah Muhammad has been accused of using a hot pressing iron to burn the buttocks of her underage maids.  The incident occurred in Ilorin, Kwara State's capital on October 11 and it was also learnt that the two underage maids identified as Hauwa and Aisha are aged 9 and 12.  The case is reportedly being investigated by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence corps (NSCDC).  Facebook user,  Abdulhakim Abdulkadir who shared the photos wrote;  ‘UNBELIEVABLE THAT PICTURE IS TRUE ABOUT A WOMAN WHO INTENTIONALLY USE PRESSING IRON ON THE THESE TWO GIRLS OF ABOUT 9 AND 12YEARS OLD WHO ARE LIVING WITH HERE. 1,111 irregular migrants refused entry into the country in 2 months - FG

About 1,111 irregular migrants have been refused entry into the country in the last two months following the joint border operations by the Nigeria Immigration Service and the Nigeria Customs Service.  The Comptroller General of Immigration Mohammed Babandede, who disclosed this in a joint briefing in Abuja said 728 migrants have also been removed from the country since August 20 when the operation began.  He said: “Before this operation, people enter into the country in and out. But this operation has enhanced the ECOWAS rule on entry and exit of persons. “We have refused entry for 1,111 people who do not have the right travel documents to enter Nigeria. Among the 147 people we have arrested, many are not even citizens of ECOWAS states. “We have arrested Pakistanis and North Koreans; we have deported seven and processing deportation of the others. 728 who have entered into the country have been removed,” he explained.   Also speaking at the press conference, the Comptro

Again Ambode ignores Lagos Assembly, fails to appear before committee

Akinwunmi Ambode, the immediate past governor of Lagos state, today October 15th, failed again to appear before the House of Assembly ad-hoc Committee probing the activities of his administration, especially the purchase of 820 buses for mass transit. Recall that last week, the state Assembly threatened to issue a warrant of arrest for Ambode if he continues to ignore the invitation to appear before its committee for questioning. When the matter was brought before the house today, the chairman of the investigation committee, Fatai Mojeed, told lawmakers that the immediate past Commissioners for Finance, Akinyemi Ashade and Special duties Oladejo Seye, who served under Ambode, had written to the committee notifying them of their absences as they were currently out of the country.
